Hempsters are invited to use copies of these tours on their own web sites, as well as use them in pro-hemp printed materials.

Hempsters are also invited to create NEW tours for use on the next edition of the “Electric Emperor”. Tours should be 240 pixels tall by 320 pixels wide (or smaller) and should be primarily graphic presentations of some hemp related fact(s) — if you can make them language independent, all the better. Send copies (keep your originals) of your tours to: Milo, POB 1361, Tustin, CA, 92781, USA on Mac or PC formatted 90 cm floppy disk(s) or Zip cartridge(s) or ISO or Macintosh formatted CD-R(s). Make sure all artwork is your own original artwork or derived from materials on the “Electric Emperor” CD-ROM. In addition to GIF or JPEG versions of your tour pictures, also provide PhotoShop, Painter, Illustrator, Flash, TIFF, EPS, or PICT copies, if available. Thanks.

Your own Web Site

WWW

You can help out in the movement to get hemp re-legalized by promoting the issue on your personal web pages. I have collected information and advice on how to make your web site more effective and interesting, as well as started collecting art materials that various hempsters have donated for your use. Click here for information on how to create and maintain your web site.

What to do with this disk:

    1. Start by taking a look at the 1942 U.S. government “Hemp for Victory”. Double-click the movie icon (those with limited RAM on their computers may need to quit their web browser first — also, you need some kind of Movie Player program and QuickTime [2 or later] to view the movie on your computer). Then enjoy the other movies included on this CD-ROM, including “Introduction” by Milo, the award winning “Hemp Hemp Hooray” public service announcement by Michael M, and the music video “Jak Rap” featuring Jack Herer, Stephen Saunders, and others. These movies can also be viewed with modern web browsers and QuickTime 3 (or later) and appear at the beginning of the main web-based presentation.

    2. Read Jack Herer’s underground classic best-selling “The Emperor Wears No Clothes”. Use your web browser (or text editor or word processor) to read “The Emperor Wears No Clothes”. The instructions page contains hints on setting up your browser for maximum reading pleasure. Those with a Macintosh may also want to run the Custom Reader to read the 10th edition of “The Emperor Wears No Clothes”" and view interesting animations, hear music and voice commentary, and experience a high speed interactive presentation. NOTE: The buttons for the chapters of “The Emperor Wears No Clothes” are located above.

    3. Use your web browser to take a look at some of the donated web sites. There’s a lot of really cool stuff in those sites. NOTE: The buttons for the donated web sites are located above. The Marijuana Policy Project and Finnish Cannabis Association sites are particularly recommened.

    4. Take the materials on this CD-ROM and use them to create pro-hemp web pages, fliers, newsletters, and other materials. Spread the word! If you come up with anything really cool, please donate a copy for future editions of the “Electric Emperor”. Hints on creating or improving your own personal web pages are included on this CD-ROM.

the “Electric Emperor”

Version 1.4 of the “Electric Emperor” CD-ROM (a faithful rendering of Jack Herer’s best selling “The Emperor Wears No Clothes: the authorative historical record of the cannabis plant, marijuana prohibition, & how hemp can still save the world”).

This World Wide Web version of the “Electric Emperor” should run on any computer that can read CD-ROMs and has a web browser, including Macintosh, Windows 3.x, Windows NT, Windows 95, Windows 98, MS-DOS, PC-DOS-2000, DR-DOS, LINUX, UNIX, BeOS, OS/2, Amiga, NeXT, NeXTSTEP, OPENSTEP, AIX, FreeBSD, Solaris, Sun-OS, OpenVMS, Rhapsody, HP-UX, OpenBSD, Digital UNIX, IRIX, Pyramid, NetBSD, NetWare, SCO, BSDI, GNU HURD, ULTRIX, MVS, and other operating systems.

See Instructions for more information about what is on this disk and how to use it.

The multi-platform portion of the disk carries all of the text from the original book, all of the pictures and photographs from the original book (many colorized), voice commentary by the author, songs donated by pro-hemp musicians, and the entire 1942 U.S. government “Hemp for Victory” film as a QuickTime movie, plus several other videos. Everything is provided as raw data files and in a HTML/web presentation. The raw data files are in common computer standards to allow easy use in print and broadcast media.

The Macintosh portion of the disk carries all of the above plus a custom reader that includes all of the above plus color animations, original color pictures, computer tools to support research and the writing of academic/school papers, and support for the handicapped (thanks to the excellent built-in support in the Mac OS). The Macintosh custom reader runs on System 4 or later and any Macintosh with any speed CD-ROM drive, although some features require System 6, System 7, 256-colors, thousands of colors, or millions of colors.

The Custom Electric Emperor Macintosh Reader will run much faster than this World Wide Web version. It will run even faster if you copy the “Working Code” folder to your hard drive (you can then make a new alias to the “Electric Emperor” file and put that in your Apple Menu folder).

Services for the blind, vision impaired, motor skill impaired, and other disabled persons available through the Electric Emperor Macintosh Reader.

Advanced services and multi-media presentations available through the Electric Emperor Macintosh Reader.

DONATIONS FOR FUTURE EDITIONS

of the “ELECTRIC EMPEROR”:

The Emperor materials (but NOT the materials donated by others) can be used to create personal pro-hemp web pages, newsletters, fliers, and other materials. We encourage pro-hemp activists to mix material from the CD-ROM (with appropriate credit) with their own materials to create interesting materials for the World Wide Web and elsewhere. We also encourage you to donate copies of your work for use in future editions of the “Electric Emperor”. We also encourage the donation of artwork, photographs, and short articles.

You should own all copyrights to any materials you donate.

Text materials should be in either Plain Text ASCII or formatted HTML.

Graphic materials (pictures, photographs, drawings, illustrations) should be in GIF, JPEG, TIFF, EPS, PDF, PhotoShop, Illustrator, Flash, or PICT formats and should be 240 pixels tall by 320 pixels wide or smaller. Graphics materials intended for use in print should be in EPS format and can be up to full page size.

Sound materials (music or voice) should be very short and in AIFF, System 7 SND, or QuickTime movie format. We are particularly interested in QuickTime movie MIDI files in a variety of styles for use as background music.

Multi-media materials (animations, videos, interactive pieces) should be very short and in QuickTime movie, ShockWave, Flash, PDF or Immedia formats.

Web materials should be completely self-contained, including the HTML code. NOTE: Make sure that web materials meet ISO 9660 Level 1 limitations: one to eight character file names (limited to only upper case letters, decimal digits, and underscore character), followed by a period, followed by three character file extensions (limited to only upper case letters and decimal digits, with only upper case letters as the initial character), arranged in folders (directories) no more than eight levels deep with one to eight characters directory names (limited to only upper case letters, decimal digits, and underscore character, with only upper case letters as the initial character). Also, three of the possible eight directory levels are used by the CD-ROM.

Send copies of your tours to: Milo, POB 1361, Tustin, CA, 92781, USA on Mac or PC formatted 90 cm floppy disk(s) or Zip cartridge(s) or CD-R(s). Disks will not be returned. Make sure all artwork is your own original artwork or derived from materials on the “Electric Emperor” CD-ROM. In addition to GIF or JPEG versions of your tour pictures, also provide TIFF, PICT, PhotoShop, Painter, or Flash copies, if available. Thanks.
